Chet Holmgren attempted just 3.5 threes per game at 36.2 percent this season, his lowest volume and efficiency since entering the league. In his rookie year he launched 4.3 threes per game and hit 37 percent. The Thunder reached the Western Conference finals but fell short, and Holmgren's diminished perimeter presence let opponents pack the paint with impunity.

His stretch-big skill set should complement Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's driving gravity. Yet fewer attempts from beyond the arc allowed defenses to sag off him without consequence. At 7-foot-1 with his smooth shooting mechanics, even a modest increase in volume would force rotations to respect the perimeter and open driving lanes for teammates. Holmgren still scores efficiently inside, but the regression limited Oklahoma City's ability to stretch defenses across all five players.

Next season Holmgren should target 4.5 threes per game early to rebuild rhythm, then adjust based on defensive schemes. Consistent volume would return him to the 38 percent range and create clearer paths for the Thunder's young core in the playoffs.
