The Indiana Pacers have scheduled a free agency meeting with forward Kelly Oubre Jr. Oubre will also sit down with the Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Lakers.
Oubre posted 14.1 points, five rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game in 2025-26 while shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 36 percent from three. Those numbers arrived after the Pacers dealt Bennedict Mathurin to the Los Angeles Clippers in the Ivica Zubac trade, creating an opening for a scoring forward who can create shots at the rim and on the perimeter.
Oubre’s athleticism and transition finishing align with Indiana’s up-tempo style. His ability to generate deflections and steals gives the defense another disruptor in the passing lanes. At age 30 he can start at small forward or provide instant offense off the bench behind Aaron Nesmith without disrupting the rotation.
Tyrese Haliburton returns from his torn Achilles after leading the Pacers to the 2024-25 NBA Finals and pushing the Oklahoma City Thunder to seven games. The 2025-26 season served as a reset year once Haliburton went down. Indiana now owns a narrow window to surround its elite playmaker with enough scoring punch to contend in the Eastern Conference again.
Haliburton averaged 18.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 1.4 steals per game when last fully healthy, shooting 47.3 percent from the floor and 38.8 percent from three. That combination of vision and efficiency elevates teammates and fuels the fast break. A forward like Oubre complements those strengths by attacking closeouts and finishing in space.
Oubre must decide among the four teams courting him before the market settles. Indiana will weigh whether his two-way production justifies the likely mid-level deal relative to other available wings. Adding him would give the Pacers a clearer path to Eastern Conference contention once Haliburton regains full health and the supporting cast finds its rhythm.
