Guerschon Yabusele is leaving the NBA after signing a three-year contract with Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos. The French forward appeared in 26 games for the Chicago Bulls this season, averaging 10 points per game. His departure marks the end of a brief stint in Chicago, where he provided a scoring option off the bench.

Yabusele entered the league as the 16th overall pick in the 2016 draft, selected by the Boston Celtics. After an early overseas experience, he returned to the United States and carved out a useful role with the Philadelphia 76ers. That performance earned him a free-agent deal with the New York Knicks, but the fit proved short-lived, and he was traded to the Bulls in the middle of the season.

In Chicago, Yabusele’s production was modest but consistent. Averaging 10 points per outing, he became one of the team’s more reliable bench contributors. While his numbers never rivaled the starters, the double-digit average kept him in the rotation and gave the Bulls a flexible scoring option when needed.

Yabusele’s European background and recent Olympic experience are likely factors in Panathinaikos’ interest. He starred in Europe before returning to the NBA and showcased his abilities at the 2024 Olympics with France, logging key minutes against top international competition. Those credentials suggest he can adapt to the physical style of play in the EuroLeague and contribute to Panathinaikos’s ambitions.

For the Bulls, the move clears a modest salary and opens a bench vacancy that can be filled by a younger prospect or a veteran on a two-way contract. Panathinaikos adds a former NBA player with recent international exposure, hoping his skill set will bolster their roster as they pursue domestic and EuroLeague success. The offseason will reveal whether Yabusele revitalizes his career in Greece or continues a peripatetic journey across leagues.
